PUERTO PRINCESA, PHILIPPINES — Quite a few Asian countries call themselves the Pearl of the Orient, but never has the Philippines deserved the moniker more than now, with the discovery of this huge gem. The Puerto Princesa Tourism Office in Palawan recently unveiled a monstrous pearl measuring 67 centimeters long and 30 centimeters wide and weighing 34 kilograms. A tourism officer posted the photos of the pearl on Facebook, with a call for gemologists to certify its authenticity so that the city can use it to vy for the title of world’s biggest natural giant clam pearl. The current record holder is the Pearl of Lao Tzu, which weighs 6.4 kilograms. According to Palawan News, the monstrous pearl was turned over to the tourism office for safekeeping by a local fisherman. The man...

Women who like wearing jewelry usually love diamonds, gold, and silver. Other women prefer pearls. Pearls are beautiful, hard gems that come in white, red, gray, blue, green, and black. They are typically spherical in shape, but there are those that form unevenly, i.e. baroque pearls. Perfectly round pearls are considered the most beautiful and they are ideal to be used as jewelry. Oysters produce these precious, iridescent stones. Amazingly, they are the by-product of a biological process that occurs when an irritant or a foreign substance such as a food particle, enters an oyster’s shell. Contrary to popular belief, the irritant is hardly ever a grain of sand. Clams and mussels can also produce this precious stone, but not as frequent as oysters do. Imagine then this woman’s surprise ...
Differences between natural & cultured pearls pearl lang . , . . . . Are freshwater and cultured pearls the same? . Here are some more compilation of topics and latest discussions relates to this video, which we found thorough the internet. Hope this information will helpful to get idea in brief about this. To understand the difference, it's important to know what pearls really are. The majority of cultured pearls available today derive from freshwater mussels and a gritty resistance between the two indicates that the pearls are probably real all saltwater pearls, however, which include akoya, tahitian, and south sea, are bead nucleated. From Palawan, Kuting's arrival gift
English/Nat Many say the quickest way to a woman's heart is through jewellery, but for the Filipinos that jewellery should include a south sea pearl. The jewels of the sea have recently been named the country's national gem. These could easily be some of the world's finest and biggest pearls. Either black or white, these gems make beautiful pieces on their own, or they can be set with other precious stones. They are Philippine south sea pearls -- the so-called pride of Filipino women. Compared to other kinds of pearls, south sea pearls are bigger in diameter and have a variety of colours. Produced from Pinctada oysters, they can only be cultured in tropical waters. Last October, in a presidential decree signed by Philippine President Fidel Ramos, the south sea p...

An incredible, 75-pound pearl has been found in the Philippines and, remarkably, its origin story may be even more amazing than the discovery itself. The giant gem was actually discovered by a fisherman back in 2006, but the man was so enamored with the object that he simply kept it under his bed as a good luck charm! After a decade of unknowingly sleeping atop a landmark discovery, the fisherman was forced to vacate his home and took the treasure with him. Soon after, he showed it to a relative working for the tourism bureau and it was then that the enormity of his discovery came to light. It turns out that the fisherman's find smashes the previous record for world's largest pearl by a whopping sixty pounds and has been valued at a jaw-dropping $100 million dollars! Local officials h...
this video is teaching you a small technique on how to differentiate between fake pearl and real pearl.
A record-breaking giant pearl, reportedly 1ft wide and 2.2 ft in length, has gone on display 10 years after it was first discovered off the coast of Palawan Island, Philippines in 2006. The enormous pearl was found by fisherman who cast down his anchor and it got wedged on a rock during a storm. Giant clams can reach over four feet in length and very rarely produce pearls, making this discovery extremely rare. A Filipino fisherman in western Palawan island has found possibly the world’s biggest pearl, but he didn’t know it. For 10 years, the 34-kilogram (75-pound) pearl was hidden in a bag under a bed. The fisherman’s family would rub it with their hands before going out to sea in the belief it would bring them luck, said relative Aileen Amurao. This giant pearl could be the biggest ever f...

Wondering why you should go to El Nido? Check out Adventurous Will's blog about El Nido! https://adventurouswill.com/el-nido/ This video describes the two main options for traveling from Manila to El Nido, Palawan in 2016. Traveling to El Nido can be rather time consuming to research. I break down the transportation into two main options. Option 1 involves taking a flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa and then taking a shared van ride to El Nido. This route is fairly cheap but takes a great deal of time and energy. Option 2 is to take the direct flight from Manila to El Nido. It's the quickest way to get to Palawan from Manila. The airline has recently changed from ITI to Air Swift. They are very similar, but the prices and luggage policies have changed in early 2016. Instagram: htt...
